Arthur VanderVeen, Ph.D.

Dr. Arthur VanderVeen is the founder and CEO of New Meridian Corporation, a role he took on after 20 years of experience in educational assessment and technology.

VanderVeen was Vice President of Business Strategy and Development at Compass Learning, where he led the company’s strategy to partner with assessment providers and deliver personalized digital learning pathways for each individual student.

VanderVeen also served as Chief of Innovation
and Executive Director of Assessments at the New York City Department of
Education. In the latter role, he directed the department’s $60 million
citywide summative and interim assessment program, which addressed almost
900,000 students.

Previously, VanderVeen served as Executive
Director at the College Board, where he led a three-year initiative to develop
the College Board Standards for College Success in English language arts,
mathematics and statistics. The standards became foundational reference
documents for the Common Core State Standards. He also worked on the SAT
reading and writing exams, leading the development of the scoring rubric for
writing and serving on content review committees.
