Our Executive Team
The New Meridian team has deep experience in education and state and national assessment programs. Their expertise and vision are the foundation of our organization.
Dr. VanderVeen’s 20+ years of in-depth experience in education assessment and technology ranges from Compass Learning, the New York City Department of Education, and the College Board.
Over her 20+ years of experience in measurement, assessment design and development, and psychometrics., Dr. Gardner has served in hands-on leadership roles with GED Testing Services and Pearson.
Ms. Rivera has more than 10 years’ experience in educational software, particularly in the design and implementation of complex content-licensing systems for educational assessment and curriculum publishers.
Mr. Bunting is a PMP® certified program manager with more than 10 years’ experience in the educational assessment industry, originally with Harcourt Assessment (later acquired by Pearson Education).
Mr. Lane has served as general counsel for multiple companies in various sectors and was the first General Counsel of the College Board, where he helped lead the revitalization, growth, and worldwide expansion of that organization’s operations.
Mr. John brings over 15 years experience in developing educational assessments that help improve student outcomes and has previously worked with Curriculum Associates and the College Board,
Mr. Lisk joins New Meridian after fifteen years at the College Board, where he was the Executive Director of System Partnerships and Outreach.
Ms. Eden comes to New Meridian with over 10 years in education policy and implementation from both the Federal and State level.
Board of Directors
Our Board Members are committed to expanding opportunities for all students through high-quality education and assessment. The Board helps New Meridian define its vision, mission, and purposes — and helps make sure we live up to those promises through sound organizational and financial planning and management, as well as compliance with relevant laws, bylaws, and policies.
Formerly Chief Strategy Officer for the WIDA Consortium, Mr. Markow helped develop standards, curriculum resources, and assessments for a consortium of 37 states in support of English language learners.
A Rhodes Scholar and former Teach For America educator, Dr. Mikuta is currently the President of Education at the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation. Her experience also includes NewSchools Venture Fund, the Center for Reform of School Systems (CRSS), and The D.C. Board of Education.
Mr. Higgins brings more than 40 years of experience in financial management, process improvement, internal controls, and systems design.
Mr. Livingston spent more than a decade as a senior executive at McGraw-Hill Education. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President of Education Policy and Strategic Alliances.
