Tracy Gardner leads New Meridian’s test design and development efforts, including the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the PARCC assessment and new state-specific custom test designs.
Dr. Gardner has more than 20 years of operational test design and development experience with considerable expertise in measurement, assessment design and development, and psychometrics. As the Senior Director of Assessment for the next-generation GED assessment, Dr. Gardner contributed to all aspects of the assessment development process — including standards development, blueprint design, item development, alignment, field testing, test construction, standardization and norming, standard setting, test security analyses and score reporting. She also directed the comprehensive research agenda that aimed to broaden the research base of GED test-taker outcomes and directed product-based research studies that helped improve products and services, ultimately enhancing the customer experience. Prior to her tenure at GED Testing Service, Dr. Gardner was a Senior Psychometrician and Manager of Psychometrics and Research Services at Pearson, where she led and/or supported the psychometrics for more than two dozen large-scale testing programs. She led or supported more than thirty standard-setting meetings and worked as the lead psychometrician on several programs, responsible for all psychometric operational and consultative work related to the reliability and validity considerations of assessment designs.
