Dr. Briggs is a professor in the Research and Evaluation Methodology program at the University of Colorado—Boulder’s School of Education. He is also director of the school’s Center for Assessment Design Research and Evaluation. Dr. Briggs works with states and other entities to provide technical advice on the design and use of large-scale student assessments. He is president of the National Council on Measurement in Education for 2021-22; past editor of the journal Educational Measurement: Issues and Practice; and author of the recently published book, Historical and Conceptual Foundations of Measurement in the Human Sciences: Credos and Controversies (Routledge). Dr. Briggs received his doctoral degree from the University of California—Berkeley.
