Neil Lane is New Meridian’s General Counsel, advising the company on all issues related to legal compliance, licensing, contracting, intellectual property management and more.

Neil graduated from Georgetown University with a B.A. in English before earning a J.D. at Georgetown University Law Center. It would launch a 30-year career in law in which he served at organizations like the College Board, Citigroup and Vivendi.

And when he’s not working as a lawyer? “Live music, live sports and dead writers,” Neil said with a smile.

Neil was the first-ever General Counsel at the College Board, helping to lead the organization’s revitalization, growth and worldwide expansion for almost 15 years. He built and ran a compliance system to manage and mitigate risk in the United States and internationally for an organization that provided a wide array of secure assessments and other products worldwide.

Neil’s work has spanned a broad range of disciplines, including intellectual property, licensing, acquisitions, employment, commercial transactions, governance, regulatory compliance and new product development.

Beyond education, Neil has provided leadership and counsel in multiple sectors, including financial services, media, publishing, energy and environmental services.
